OOPs presents Max Frisch’s THE PYROMANIACS translated by Alistair Beaton, an absurdist parable about accommodating the very thing that will destroy us.

 

Fires are becoming something of a problem, but well to do man of business Gottlieb Biedermann has got things under control, until he discover that the two men he’s invited into his home are the Pyromaniacs who have already burned down much of the town. He and his superficial wife, concerned only with saving themselves and their home decide to appease the Pyros—which serves only to postpone the inevitable holocaust.
